Oats are a delicious and nutritious food that are great for camping. Light to carry, you only need to add a few things to make it a tasty breakfast to start an active day.
Preparation Time: 1 minutes / Cooking Time: 5-10 minutes / Makes 2 cups
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup skim milk powder ( I use soy milk powder for a malty flavor)
- 1.5 cups water
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 apple, sliced
- Add oats, water, cinnamon, nutmeg and milk powder into a saucepan and stir over a medium heat.
- Continue stirring and cook for about 5 minutes until the mixture reaches a porridge-like consistency (add water as necessary to create your preferred consistency)
- Remove from heat and stir in honey
- Serve with sliced apple
