I love intense flavours in my food. Give me a strong coffee, a heavy red wine, a spicy curry, a smelly cheese, a smoky sauce or a floral sweet treat and you basically have my heart.
Although camping can limit your ability to produce technical meals, the great thing is that you can add some fabulous spices and seasonings to enhance basic recipes.
Here are my top spices to take- all are dried, have a long storage life, are lightweight and easy to use.
For those savoury dishes:
- Ground Coriander
- Ground Chilli
You can use these wonderful ingredients in both Mexican and Indian dishes, including my Red Lentil Dhal recipe.
For sweeter recipes I always use:
- Cinnamon sticks
- Star Anise
With these spices, take along some oil, honey, salt and pepper and you’re in for some simply heartwarming delights after your day’s adventure.
