The Pinnacle, Grampians National Park, Victoria

Reach new heights in The Grampians in regional Victoria with this short, but spectacular walk.

Start: Wonderland Carpark to the Pinnacle (Return)

Distance: 5.5km circuit

Time: 2-2½ hrs return

Grade: Medium

Closest Town: Halls Gap

The walk to the Pinnacle lookout is a must when visiting Grampians National Park. Also referred to as The Grampians or ‘Gariwerd’ in the local Aboriginal language, the national park is located 260 kilometres west of Melbourne and is listed on the Australian National Heritage list for the incredible rock formations, lush vegetation and the abundance of Aboriginal rock art sites.

Silent Street

The walk from the Wonderland Carpark gives you a great close-up view of the rock formations that are identifiable with The Grampians. The trail meanders through various locations including the Grand Canyon (much smaller than the one in the US, but impressive nonetheless) and the corridors of rock on Silent Street to reach the Pinnacle. When you reach the top you will be greeted with incredible views of Halls Gap and Lake Bellfield.

If you have a bit more time up your sleeve and are feeling fit, you can also walk to the Pinnacle from Halls Gap Carpark (11km and about 5hours return).
